Content Ownership denotes ownership rights to the content of an SKU. Typically, Content Ownership belongs to the first Marketplace Seller who creates the content. We use the term ‘Content Ownership’ only to denote the control or ability to make changes to certain content on our webpages, not as retaining possession of the digital media.
The areas of content change and control for the Content Owner are the following:
Item Field |
CONTENT OWNER |
||||||||
Website Short Title | Yes
Bullet Description | Yes
Product Description | Yes
Package Dimensions | Yes
Properties/Property Values | Yes

The system will only allow the seller with Content Ownership to make edits. If a different seller tries to modify existing content for an SKU that they do not have ownership rights to, the system will ignore it and not allow them to make the update. If Newegg updates the product, or uploads images, or sets properties for a product this does not transfer Content Ownership.
Newegg may transfer Content Ownership to a different seller if it is deemed that the seller has better quality content. If a seller wishes to correct or update content for which they do not have ownership rights, please request a transfer in Content Ownership by emailing the Marketplace Content Team at mktp.content@newegg.com.
If a seller seeks this, they must be specific (include your Seller ID, and the Newegg Item numbers of the items in question, [not just your Seller Part Numbers]).
Please note, that Newegg reserves the right to make corrections or enhance any content provided by Sellers. Additionally, if any item/SKU is sold by Newegg.com, Content Ownership is retained by Newegg and may not be transferred to individual Marketplace Sellers. Ownership transfer is subject to Newegg’s discretion and may not be processed if the seller is not the original item creator or if there are other active sellers listing the same item.
