Navigation List/Taxonomy Guide

This guide outlines how to navigate the Newegg.com navigation tree mappings and understand the backend subcategory list.

What is a Subcategory?

A subcategory creates a clear path for customers to find your items on Newegg, organizing products by industry and improving discoverability.

Where Can I download the latest Newegg Taxonomy Guide?

You can download the latest Newegg taxonomy guide here (xlsx file), which includes detailed website navigation trees and subcategory-related property information.

How the Subcategory, Navigation and Website Work Together

As shown in the example below, when you list an item in the subcategory ‘Handbags’ (1490), it will automatically appear under two specific navigation paths on the website (image below). Items cannot be listed under a single specific navigation path. Instead, when you list an item in a subcategory, like the ‘Handbags’ category (1490), it will automatically appear under all navigation paths associated with that subcategory.

How to use the Newegg Taxonomy Guide Tool

After downloading the latest Newegg taxonomy guide here (xlsx file). You’ll find the following useful tabs:

  • Instructions tab: A quick guide on navigating through subcategories.
  • Nav Tree tab: A full list of industry names, subcategory IDs, subcategories, and their navigation paths for your items.
  1. Use the Nav Tree tab to search by industry, subcategory, or keywords to pinpoint the exact subcategory your item belongs to.
  2. Once you have verified the correct subcategory for your item, you can then proceed to create your item(s) under this subcategory.
