What are the required documents?
Newegg may ask you to provide a certificate of insurance within 30 days to show your compliance with our selling agreement. Your insurance company issues a Certificate of Insurance once you purchase a policy. This document details the property and persons covered, the amount of coverage, and any exclusions or deductibles. This document can be in .pdf, .doc, or .docx format. If needed, we may request additional documents such as a complete copy of your insurance policy and an invoice for purchasing your policy.
What are the insurance requirements?
Your commercial liability insurance policy must meet all of the following criteria, unless otherwise required by applicable law or regulation:
- The insurance policy type can be either commercial general, umbrella, or excess liability and be occurrence based.
- The policy limit must be General & Commercial Liability Insurance, Personal and Advertising Injury, and Errors & Omissions Insurance in amounts not less than $1 million per occurrence and $2 million in the aggregate
- If Seller manufactures any Product it offers for sale on the Website, Seller shall also procure and maintain Product Liability and Product Recall insurance in amounts not less than $1 million per occurrence and $2 million in the aggregate
- The deductible for any policy(ies) must not be greater than $10,000. Any deductible amount must be listed on your Certificate of Insurance;
- The policy must cover all sales from products you have listed on Newegg
- The policy must name ” Newegg Commerce, Inc., and its subsidiaries” as additional insureds;
- Except for single-member LLCs, your insured name must match the “legal entity” name you provided to Newegg in your Account Info. For single member LLCs, where your legal entity name is different than the name you publicly use to identify your business (“trade name,” “doing business as,” or “DBA”), it is also acceptable for your insured name to match your trade name;
- Your insurance provider must have global claim handling capability and a financial rating of S&P A- and/or AM Best A- or better (if S&P or AM best is not valid or used in the country where you are required to obtain insurance, a local equivalent is allowed);
- The policy must be completed in its entirety and signed; and
- Your insurance provider must give Newegg at least 30 days’ notice of cancellation, modification, or nonrenewal.
If you currently do not have liability insurance or are looking for a new policy, you can choose any insurance provider that meets our requirements above.
How can I add Newegg as an additional insured?
Please contact your insurer to add “Newegg Commerce, Inc., and its subsidiaries” with address “21688 Gateway Center Drive, Suite 300, Diamond Bar, CA 91765” as an additional insured.
Can I choose my own insurance provider?
Yes. If you currently don’t have commercial liability insurance, you can choose any insurance provider that meets our requirements then you can submit your proof of insurance using the upload tab in your seller account.
How do I renew my commercial liability insurance policy?
Most insurers will contact you proactively to renew your policy. If you have not heard from your insurer, you can always check the status of your policy with your insurer directly, as some insurers may renew the policy automatically.
If your insurer did not renew your policy you can work with any insurer of your choice to obtain a new policy that meets our requirements.
What happens if my COI is not submitted?
You will have 90 days from the first email notification to submit your COI. If you do not submit your COI within the 120 days, you will risk a payment hold on your selling account until a proper COI has been submitted for review and approval.
How can I submit my COI?
Available Platforms: Newegg.com, Neweggbusiness.com, Newegg.ca
How-To:
- Make sure you’re logged in as the Administrator of the account.
- Go to the Seller Portal.
- Navigate to Account Settings page
- Click [Add New Policy] button and fill in the required fields
- Click the Submit button
- After submission it may take a 10 mins or so before you see it populated in the queue.
The status should show it as pending.
- The expected wait time until approval is 2-3 days until verification.
