Newegg checks price changes to help protect you from pricing mistakes, such as a misplaced decimal point or an incorrect unit. If a new price is significantly out of line with the market price, Newegg temporarily restricts and deactivates the item to help prevent orders at the incorrect price.

Supported platforms: Newegg.com, Neweggbusiness.com, Newegg.ca

What happens when a price is flagged

  • The item is immediately deactivated on the country site where the abnormal price is detected. It remains active on other sites.
  • The item receives an Abnormal Pricing restriction. Until you release this restriction, you cannot reactivate the item on any site.
  • Items participating in promotions are also deactivated.
  • This restriction does not count as a violation and does not require an appeal.

Email notification

Newegg emails your notification address with each affected item's Item Number, Ship To Country, Title, Brand, Original Price, and Target Price.

How to release the restriction

  1. Review the item's price and correct it if needed.
  2. In Seller Portal, go to Items > Pricing & Inventory.
  3. Hover over the item's Restricted label and click Release restriction.
  4. In the pop-up window, review the current price and select I have verified the current price is correct.
  5. Click Release.
  6. Reactivate the item on the same page. Releasing the restriction does not automatically reactivate the item.

Things to know

  • You need edit permission for Pricing & Inventory. Without this permission, the button is disabled.
  • You can release only the Abnormal Pricing restriction yourself. If the item has other restrictions, it remains restricted after you release the pricing restriction. The remaining restrictions continue to appear on the page.
  • If a later price change is flagged as abnormal, the item is restricted again.
  • If a message says the restriction has already been released, refresh the page.
  • If you need help, create a case under Help > Case List.
